Frequently Asked Questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It compresses better than JPEG, but many apps, websites and Windows PCs can't open it directly, which is why converting to JPG or PNG is often needed.
What happens to Live Photos or burst HEIC files?
A HEIC file can bundle more than one image (for example, a burst). This tool converts the primary photo and tells you when a file contained extra images, so the output stays predictable — one photo in, one photo out.
Does this keep the photo's location or camera metadata?
No — like every other image tool on this site, the conversion re-draws the photo from scratch, which strips GPS, camera and timestamp metadata. The photo's correct orientation is preserved; only metadata is removed. Need to check what's hidden in a JPG first? Try the EXIF Remover.
Is there a file size or count limit?
No hard limit — since everything runs on your own device, capacity depends on your browser's memory. Batches of dozens of normal-sized photos work fine. Need to shrink the output further? Try the Image Compressor.
